ECHA proposes 11 substances for authorisation list on which there are two plasticisers, four lead compounds and two boron compounds. ECHA has started public consultation which will take place until 17 February. ECHA is seeking comments on whether the substances should be a priority for authorisation, their uses, possible exemptions and the proposed application and phase-out deadlines.

One of the 11 substances are two plasticisers used in PVC – dihexyl phthalate and “1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, dihexyl ester, branched and linear” classified as 1B reprotoxins. At the same time European Commission is seeking information on the possible socio-economic consequences of including the substances in the authorisation list. ECHA will gathered all information to the Commission and it will not be considered by the agency in the recommendation process.
