30 years of OXO and the great future ahead!

Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn S.A. belongs to the largest Polish chemical company — Grupa Azoty. It is the only Polish manufacturer of OXO alcohols and one of the main manufacturers of plasticisers. Today, Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. constitutes a wealth of complementary competences — a huge production potential with the know-how and experience of its employees. To meet the clients’ expectations, it uses current market opportunities and shifts towards offering not only products, but also complex application solutions.

In order to do so, the ZAK Innovation Centre has been created to develop highly-advanced substances for the plastics chemistry market. Furthermore, the application laboratory designed for the purposes of the Centre will help to conduct scientific research and developmental projects based mainly on creating additives to modify polymers towards obtaining innovative plasticisers and later to perform a series of application tests with them. The company also plans to develop a mixture of materials combined with these additives and to test their properties. The main task of the ZAK Innovation Centre is to act towards the active search for innovation and face the expectations of the clients by offering them a wide range of expert products. The key aim of the company is to have an effect on the improvement of human life. It is always the human being that is most important to the company in the entire complicated manufacturing process. Whatever Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. is creates can be applied in the surrounding world, which is one of company goals.

The OXO installation created in 1986 was an accomplishment on a global scale. The designed capacity was 134 thousand tonnes of OXO alcohols annually, and in 1995 the first million tonnes of alcohol were produced. At present, the company can produce 225 thousand tonnes of OXO alcohols and 86 thousand tonnes of plasticisers, including 50 thousand tonnes of non-phathalate plasticiser Oxoviflex®. Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. is the only manufacturer of OXO alcohols in Poland and the fifth in Europe. On the list of European manufacturers of plasticisers, Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. is the largest manufacturer in Poland and the fifth-largest in Europe. It has been offering products all over the world for 30 years now, and it continues to make newer and newer targets. Owing to immense self-work and care for the slightest detail, the company has enjoyed clients’ confidence and worked out the quality which it is currently able to ensure to its customers.

Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. successively continues to enlarge its range of products. It has introduced to the market a new plasticiser — the non-phathalate Oxoviflex®, which is an up-to-date product fulfilling all the requirements defined in the European Pharmacopoeia. The company works on prolonging the value chain of segment production by building the installation of specialist esters, which will supplement the offer of the basic plasticisers and enable the development of new market segments. Both in the past and now, the employees bring in their vast expertise and skills which constitute the inherent element of plant functioning. Science and industry penetrate each other and enable the company to create a new, innovative OXO Segment.
